Most families end up asking in the apartment WhatsApp group, or going through a broker who charges a month's salary and disappears afterwards.
Maids Hands For You works differently. We're based in Aluva, Ernakulam, and our profiles are Kerala staff, including those already working in Bangalore and those willing to relocate. You take a subscription, read the profiles, and call her directly. You talk to her in Malayalam, ask what you need to ask, and agree the salary between you. No commission on the hire.
Why families ask for a Malayali maid
Three reasons come up again and again, and they're all legitimate.
Language. A parent or grandparent living with you who's more comfortable in Malayalam. Instructions that get understood the first time. For an elderly family member at home all day, it's the difference between having company and having a stranger in the house.
Food. Kerala cooking is specific. Coconut oil, curry leaves, the right fish, the way a thoran is made, puttu in the morning. A cook who grew up with it doesn't need teaching. One who didn't will produce something approximately similar for years.
Household familiarity. How a Malayali kitchen is organised, what gets cleaned when, how festivals are handled. Small things, but they're why families keep asking specifically.
Where in Bangalore
Demand concentrates where the Malayali population does. The strongest requests come from Koramangala, HSR Layout, Bellandur, Whitefield and Marathahalli, largely IT families with both parents working. Kammanahalli, Thippasandra and Indiranagar have older, more established Malayali households, where the need is more often elderly care than childcare.
Where you are affects what's practical. A part-time maid needs to live close enough to walk or take a short auto, so part-time works best in the denser Malayali pockets. For Whitefield, Sarjapur and the outer areas, a live-in arrangement is usually more realistic.
Already in Bangalore, or relocating from Kerala
Two different situations and they work differently.
Staff already in Bangalore. Many Malayali maids and cooks have been in the city for years, know the areas, and are looking for a better arrangement than the one they have. This is the faster route. She can start quickly, she already has somewhere to live if she's not going live-in, and she knows the city.
Relocating from Kerala. Slower and it needs more from you. She needs somewhere to stay, which in practice means a live-in arrangement with a proper room. She needs the travel sorted. And she needs a reason to move, which usually means a better salary than she'd get in Kerala.
If you're asking someone to move 500 kilometres away from her family, be straightforward about what you're offering. Room, food, salary, days off, and how often she can go home. Families who are vague about this lose the placement within two months, usually around the first festival.

A broker will typically take one month's salary as a placement fee, then charge it again when she leaves. In Bangalore, where domestic staff turn over quickly, that adds up fast. The subscription removes it.
What you'll need to provide for a live-in arrangement
Bangalore apartments make this harder than Kerala houses do, and it's worth being realistic before you start.
- A separate room. Many 2BHK and 3BHK flats don't have a proper servant's room. Sharing a room with the children or sleeping in the hall will lose you good candidates immediately.
- Bathroom arrangements, either separate or clearly agreed.
- Food, three meals, eating what the household eats.
- Days off, usually one a week, and a longer break every few months so she can go to Kerala. Agree this upfront.
- Society and building rules. Some apartment associations have registration requirements for live-in domestic staff. Check yours before she arrives, not after.
Hospital and care needs
Malayali families in Bangalore also hire for elderly parents, particularly where the parents have moved from Kerala to live with their children. If you need elderly care, a home nurse or a hospital bystander, filter for those categories.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I find a Malayali maid in Bangalore?
Through us, through your apartment's Malayali network, or through a broker. The difference here is that you see the profiles and speak to her yourself before anything is agreed, and there's no placement commission.
How much does a live-in maid cost in Bangalore?
Around ₹22,000 to ₹30,000 a month in 2026, paid directly to her, plus her room and food. Bangalore runs well above Kerala rates.
Can I hire a maid from Kerala to work in Bangalore?
Yes, and many families do. She'll need a live-in arrangement with a proper room, the travel arranged, and a salary that makes the move worth it. Be specific about days off and trips home before she agrees.
Will she speak Malayalam and cook Kerala food?
That's the reason most families use us for Bangalore. Check her profile for languages and cooking style, and ask her directly on the call what she cooks daily.
Do I need a separate room for a live-in maid?
Yes. Many Bangalore flats don't have one and it's the most common reason a live-in placement falls through. Sort it before you start calling.
Does my apartment association need to register her?
Many do. Check your society's rules on live-in domestic staff before she arrives.
